Another Trump sets her eye on the title of jewelry designer – Mrs. Donald (Melania) Trump. Stepmother to high-fashion jewelry designer Ivanka Trump, her line is decidedly easier on the pocketbook. The jewelry line debuted on home shopping giant QVC on April 30.

The QVC website shows 17 of these pieces of jewelry. There is nothing new or unique about the designs although the price point at under $200 is somewhat reasonable. Most of the jewelry on the QVC website at present is under $50.
The marketing hype for the jewelry per QVC is that the design line ‘incorporates design elements that are indigenous to the three cities that Trump calls home: New York City, Palm Beach and Paris’. Having visited or lived in each of the three cities, the association between the pieces of jewelry and any of these cities is unclear.
That being said, there are two pieces on the QVC website that stand out and tie in with contemporaneous jewelry trends. Kudos to the QVC website for the stellar product description, complete with multiple images of each piece.
Melania Simulated Gemstone Floral Design Stud Earrings
Earrings similar to these have been worn on award show red carpets this year – for example, the Chanel earrings worn by Vera Farmiga to the Golden Globe Awards. Similar to a sunflower, these earrings have 10 pear-shaped petals prong-set with simulated diamonds. The center of the earring is a rectangular, faceted simulated gemstone. These earrings come with either a simulated diamond or emerald center stone and are priced at $43.50 with an additional $4.50 for shipping and handling.
Simulated gemstones are usually cut glass. The earrings are silver toned which means a base metal is used which is silver in color – not to be confused with sterling silver. They are just under 1 inch in size. See the QVC website for exact dimensions
Melania Oval Simulated Gemstone Ring w/ Crystal Accents
If the jewelry buyer is looking for a great statement ring, this piece of jewelry is a very good buy. Gold tone, the ring has an oval simulated gemstone, either simulated ruby or blue sapphire, set within a border of two rows of prong-set, round and marquise-shaped clear crystals. Crystals are gemstones – usually of the rock or quartz variety.
The band is split-shank, which means the band separates into multiple strands as it comes toward the center, focal point of the ring. Priced at $35.50 with $4.00 shipping, this is a very nice inexpensive piece of costume jewelry. It would totally round out a prom or party outfit.
